Learning Efficient Logic Programs

چکیده

Most logic-based machine learning algorithms rely on an Occamist bias where textual simplicity of hypotheses is optimised. This approach, however, fails to distinguish between the efficiencies of hypothesised programs, such as quick sort (O(n log n)) and bubble sort (O(n)). We address this issue by considering techniques to minimise both the resource complexity and textual complexity of hypothesised programs. We describe an algorithm proven to learn optimal resource complexity robot strategies, and we propose future work to generalise this approach to a broader class of logic programs.

Modelling Metabolic Pathways Using Stochastic Logic Programs-Based Bagging

In this paper we present a methodology to estimate rates of enzymatic reactions in metabolic pathways. Our methodology is based on applying stochastic logic learning in ensemble learning. Stochastic logic programs provide an efficient representation for metabolic pathways and ensemble methods give state-of-the-art performance and are useful for drawing biological inferences. We construct ensemb...

Expectation maximization over binary decision diagrams for probabilistic logic programs

Recently much work in Machine Learning has concentrated on using expressive representation languages that combine aspects of logic and probability. A whole field has emerged, called Statistical Relational Learning, rich of successful applications in a variety of domains. In this paper we present a Machine Learning technique targeted to Probabilistic Logic Programs, a family of formalisms where ...

EM over Binary Decision Diagrams for Probabilistic Logic Programs

Recently much work in Machine Learning has concentrated on representation languages able to combine aspects of logic and probability, leading to the birth of a whole field called Statistical Relational Learning. In this paper we present a technique for parameter learning targeted to a family of formalisms where uncertainty is represented using Logic Programming techniques the so-called Probabil...

Inference and learning in probabilistic logic programs using weighted Boolean formulas

Probabilistic logic programs are logic programs in which some of the facts are annotated with probabilities. This paper investigates how classical inference and learning tasks known from the graphical model community can be tackled for probabilistic logic programs. Several such tasks such as computing the marginals given evidence and learning from (partial) interpretations have not really been ...

ProPPR: Efficient First-Order Probabilistic Logic Programming for Structure Discovery, Parameter Learning, and Scalable Inference

A key challenge in statistical relational learning is to develop a semantically rich formalism that supports efficient probabilistic reasoning using large collections of extracted information. This paper presents a new, scalable probabilistic logic called ProPPR, which further extends stochastic logic programs (SLP) to a framework that enables efficient learning and inference on graphs: using a...
